Hi @Afif_2025,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP laptop microphone has suddenly stopped working. There are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Check Microphone Settings:

  • Ensure that the microphone is not muted. You can do this by right-clicking the sound icon in the taskbar, selecting "Sounds," and navigating to the "Recording" tab. Here, you should see your microphone listed. Make sure it's enabled and set as the default device.

Update Audio Drivers:

  • Sometimes, outdated or corrupted audio drivers can cause microphone issues. You can update your audio drivers by:

    • Going to the Official HP® Support, locating your product, and downloading the latest drivers.
    • Alternatively, you can use Device Manager:
      1. Search for and open "Device Manager."
      2. Expand the "Sound, video and game controllers" section.
      3. Right-click your audio device and select "Update driver."
      4. Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software."

Check Privacy Settings:

  • Windows 10 and 11 have privacy settings that can block applications from using your microphone. To check:
    • Open "Settings" > "Privacy" > "Microphone."
    • Ensure that "Allow apps to access your microphone" is turned on.

Test Microphone on Another Application:

  • Verify if the microphone works in different applications, such as recording a voice note or using an online voice test tool. This helps to determine if the issue is application-specific.

Run Windows Troubleshooter:

  • Use the built-in troubleshooter:
    • Go to "Settings" > "Update & Security" > "Troubleshoot."
    • Click "Additional troubleshooters" and select "Recording Audio."
    • Follow the on-screen instructions.

Reinstall Audio Driver:

  • If updating doesn't help, try reinstalling the audio driver:
    • Go to "Device Manager."
    • Right-click on your audio device and select "Uninstall device."
    • Restart your laptop, and Windows should reinstall the correct drivers automatically.

Perform a System Restore:

  • If the microphone issue started recently, a system restore might help.
  • Go to "Control Panel" > "Recovery" > "Open System Restore" and follow the instructions to revert to a point when the microphone was working.

Check Hardware/External Devices:

  • If you recently used a headset, ensure it is properly disconnected and that the ports are not obstructed.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
