Mute button (F6) blinking

HP Recommended
HP Envy 17
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Product number: 1UG86UA#ABL

Whenever I turn the laptop on, the mute button on the keyboard blinks like crazy. Sometimes it's consistent and fast, other times it's very random. I've updated everything I could through HP Support Assistant hoping that would fix the problem, but it still persists. I spilled a drink on the keyoard the night before so I'm starting to guess that that's what caused this issue. I'm still under warranty for another year and 4 months, if I must get it repaired.

UPDATE: I removed the key cap for the F6 button and that seemed to have fixed it. Would it be worth getting my keyboard repaired?

You can find the latest driver for your product here:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-envy-17-ae000-laptop-pc/15551157/model/16842024

Make sure to install:

- the latest audio driver

- the latest BIOS version

If the issue persists, the liquid you spilt on the keyboard might be causing a short-circuit.

As it stands, liquid spillage is not covered by standard HP warranty so they would make you pay a pickup & repair free. Keep that in mind.

It also depends on the liquid that was spilt. if it was water, keeping the laptop off for 24 hours would be indicated. If it was an alcoholic os sugary drink .. I would just be glad the keyboard still works.
