Hi:
If you are using XP SP2, you have to first install this driver.
Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for High-Definition Audio
If you are running XP SP3, the above driver is not necessary.
There are two different Conexant audio drivers available for the v5000, and I don't know which one is the right one for your notebook:
So, here are the links to both of them:
Conexant AC-Link Audio Driver
Conexant High-Definition Audio Driver
If you are running W10 64 bit, there are no 64-bit drivers for the audio.
You would have to install W10 32 bit to get the sound to work and then you can't use all 8 GB of memory.
Conexant Audio Driver
Conexant AC-Link Audio Driver.
Same as the above driver for Vista or XP.

you're an angel, I was already getting worried thinking it was the speakers, I'll never forget your help. and if you work at HP, try to bring back that aesthetic of brick-thick laptops, there are still people who like that hehe, thank you very much Paul, I just have one more small problem...
I need the internet driver for XP on the Compaq V5000, if there's a wireless internet driver for it, that would be great, because my internet cable is way over there, on my old PC bench

You're very welcome.
I just volunteer my time here and was glad to be of assistance to you.
If you post the hardware ID for the Wi-Fi adapter in the device manager, I will post the driver for it since I don't know what model Wi-Fi adapter HP installed in your notebook.
See this link for how to do that if you are not familiar with this kind of thing.

hmmm, let me see if I understand, I right-clicked on "ethernet controller", went to properties>details, in details, I selected the Hardware ID option, and some names appeared below like this:
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4311&SUBSYS_1363103C&REV_01
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4311&SUBSYS_1363103C
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4311&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4311&CC_0280

Yep, that's exactly what I needed:
Below is the link to the Wi-Fi driver you need for the Broadcom Wi-Fi adapter:
Broadcom Wireless LAN Driver
The above driver is newer than the one on your notebook's support page.
BTW, here is the link to your notebook's driver support page if you need any other drivers or software:
