I have written some music using Finale and I would like to record myself on my laptop singing along to the music. My laptop doesn't come with a dedicated microphone input port. Can I use an external microphone using the headphone jack or one of the USB ports to make the recording?
( I know the laptop comes with an integrated microphone if I want to speak to someone with the built-in webcam, but that won't work for what I want to do.)

Hi,
Yes you can, through microphone-head phone jack on the right side:
