My HP laptop 15s has been crashing when the screen is moved and the audio turns to his high-pitched sound. Can somebody help me with the issue?

Hi @BladeStormer

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand the concern. Since the crash happens specifically when the screen is moved and is accompanied by a high-pitched audio tone, this can point to either a display cable connection issue near the hinge area or a hardware component losing connection when the laptop chassis flexes.

To help us narrow this down, could you please confirm:

  • What is the complete HP 15s model number?
  • Does the laptop show a blue screen, black screen, or immediately restart when moved?
  • Does the issue occur only when opening/closing the lid, or even when adjusting the screen slightly?
  • Is the laptop able to remain stable if the screen is left in one position?
  • Have you noticed any flickering, display distortion, or loose hinge movement before the crashes began?
  • Does the issue occur while running on both battery power and the AC adapter?

Also, let us know if any recent BIOS, Windows, or driver updates were installed before the issue started.

Once we have these details, we can provide the most appropriate troubleshooting steps to help identify whether the behavior is related to the display assembly, hinge area, or another hardware component.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
