Hello!
When i connect the notebook to my tv via HDMI cable i have picture but no sound. The strange is that everything worked fine until mid of November when an update happened. After that i din't even had picture on my tv. I uninstalled and reinstalled display drivers and audio drivers and picture on my tv came back but sound not. I downloaded display graphics drivers (AMD R5 M430 and Intel HD graphics 620) and sound driver (Realtek) from HP support assistant but not sound again. Then i tried to download the newest drivers from the AMD, Intel and Realtek webpages but no sound again. When i perform right click on the sound icon at the bottom right and choose playback devices it appears only the speaker icon and not my HDMI TV icon although i have picture on the tv. (the options: show diconnected and disable devices are on). When i perform right click at the desktop and launch Intel's graphics adjustments my tv is being recognized. In the device manager at the sound inputs and outputs are three Realtek's high definition audio things (speakers, microphone and stereo mixture), at the sound video and games controllers are Realtek High definition Audio and Intel sound display and at the display adapters are AMD R5 M430 and Intel HD graphics 620. My old laptop (a Vaio one) works fine when i connect it to the tv through the HDMI cable (i have both picture and sound). I don't know what to do. I have gave up... Please help...

Hi! @panoskor1322, Welcome to HP forums.
I understand you are unable to get audio output using HDMI connection.
Don't worry I'd like to help you out.
Did you make any software or hardware changes on your laptop?
Have you tried checking with a different HDMI cable?
As you mentioned you are unable to get audio output using an HDMI connection on your PC.
Please try few steps mentioned below.
Open the Device Manager in Windows 10.
Navigate to Sound, video, and game controllers.
Now connect your PC to TV using HDMI connection.
This will show some “HDMI Audio” related driver under the above section.
Now right-click that item and UNINSTALL it.
Now right-click Sound, video, and game controllers and select “Scan for hardware changes“.
This will install a typical driver which is something like this – “Device with HDMI AUDIO OUTPUT SUPPORT”.
Also, try the steps recommended below.
• Control Panel, Sound, Manage Audio Devices
• The Soundbox will pop up.
• On the playback tab, you should see two icons. One for your laptop speakers, one for the external monitor/TV.
• Double click on the Laptop speakers, then click "Set Default" button on the bottom.
• The Laptop Speakers will be "Checked".
• Select OK and exit.
Refer this article to further troubleshoot HDMI issues with your PC.
Also, uninstall the audio driver from device manager and install the driver the latest driver using this link.
If the issue still persists try updating the drivers using HP support assistant.
Refer this article to know more information about using HP support assistant.

Hi there again
I followed your instructions but nothing worked. You said: Navigate to Sound, video, and game controllers.
Now connect your PC to TV using HDMI connection. This will show some “HDMI Audio” related driver under the above section. but in sound, video, and game controlers nothing changed when i connect the HDMI cable to the notebook... The same also and at playback devices at the botton right icon of the desktop (no external monitor/TV icon appeared). Then I uninstalled and istalled the latest audio realtek driver that you suggested but nothing again, no tv sound no icons appeared... The only thing that changed was when i uninstalled again realtek audio driver and intel's display audio. After that the icon of the external monitor/TV appeared at the playback tab of the Soundbox at the bottom right of the desktop. But despite the fact that the HDMI cable IS CONNECTED to the laptop i CAN'T set the tv as default device because it sais that it is not plugged in... I unplugged the cable and replugg it but nothing again... This is the image of the device manager and the soundbox with the HDMI cable connected to the laptop.

At the playback devices no Digital output device or HDMI icon option appears.(with the HDMI cable connected)
I updated the BIOS still no luck. I installed realtek's driver that you suggested still no luck.
I bought new HDMI cable still no sound to tv. Only image. At Intel's graphics adjustements my tv is being properly recognized.
Can you tell me please which display drivers from HP support should i download? There are 8 options and i can't figure out which are the suitable ones for my notebook model
