OMEN by HP – 15-ce012nc
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

so i bought this laptop 2 mounths ago, everything else is working as expected, best gaming experience i have had

but just today after coming from school, the sound stopped working, it didnt gave out when working rather not working after turning it on, i member that night before there was a windows update with windows having a popup notification for me, which is the first time seeing this on this laptop, even tho i dont know if that was the cause, because i thought it was because of the ipdate i reverted the laptop to the state i receided it in(factory settings) that didnt work, so i tried to find a fix on youtube, as i tried the device managment method where you uninstall the the output device and in reinstalls automaticaly. that didnt work and it didnt reinstall...  so i found a guy with similar problem on here, as i tried to follow the suport hp gave him, it led me to trying to install the device, as this site has recognized the product i am using and has given me the (probably) right thing to install but it wont install either, so now i am at loss at what to do so... please help?

UPDATE:

User DaveArnold78 Posted on another thread with this same issue a Solution that works, at least it worked for me.  Here is what he said.

"Go into your Device manager

Windows key + X

Go to System Devices

Locate an audio driver that has SST in it

Right click, select Update Driver,  it will offer to browse computer or List, click List and there should be a High Def Audio and an SST option, you need the High Def one. Next to finish

SST will disappear from System Devices and you should have Audio back

Tried and tested on 2 machines now so it works"

This worked and I have my audio back.  Thank You DaveArnold78 if you read this.

I'm having this exact same issue with my Omen 17-an036nd since this afternoon, and I've tried many suggestions from various fora. I also tried the solution provided in this thread:

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/Intel-HIgh-Definition-Audio-Device-issue/td-p/6170889

However, when I tried installing the "Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver (Windows 10 v1803)" from my Device Driver page, I got the message "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software".
But shouldn't this driver be the right one for my device, since it came from the page that belongs to my model?
(I used the automatic identification option rather than entering the serial number manually, btw)

I'm out of ideas at this point, and would appreciate any help I can get.

I dug through the forum some more, and found this thread from 2 years ago:

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/Can-t-hear-any-sound-from-my-computer/m-p/5648984#M7592...

This suggestion, provided by PeaceLily, worked for me:

  • If your computer came with Windows 10 installed, you can restore the original sound driver in HP Recovery Manager, or update the driver through Device Manager

Click Start > type and run "HP Recovery Manager" > "Reinstall Drivers and/or Applications" > Continue > check all boxes under "Drivers" (I didn't bother with the Applications or HP Updates)

Hit Install and wait for the program to reinstall all the drivers. After restarting my pc, this fixed my problem.

Hope it fixes it for you too

I am having the Same issue.  I think it was an Intel - System Driver install through Windows Update that screwed it up.  I did TWO Factory Resets and all was well and good until I connected to the internet, then it happened again.  I also have tried the Realtek Driver and that doesn't work, it says no supported Hardware.  Under Device Manager it says "Intel Audio Device"  But this has Realtek.  If you go into the BIOS you can do a Diagnostic test on your Audio and it will work there but once you log into windows, nothing.  I'm on an Omen 15-CE015DX.  Nothing has worked thus far, hopefully, a Solution comes soon, I can use Bluetooth headphones for Sound but I want my sound back lol.  IMG_7354.jpeg
