Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, I have just received delivery of the above laptop, and the sound quality is very poor. I have looked at the sound section on the control panel, and the only enabled audio device shows as 'Realtek Audio' - On my 4 year old laptop that is being replaced, it shows as 'Realtek high definition audio' and the sound is much louder and clearer.

Online guides seem to suggent clicking on an 'enhancements' tab, but this isn't there under the proprties of this device. I'm at a loss where to turn next. As this is a new gaming laptop, I would have expected the sound quality to be much better. I'm not particularly tech savvy, so any help would be appreciated.

Please do a clean install Audio software/driver, this should help.

   (a) Download the following driver and save on your computer,
                    https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp105501-106000/sp105562.exe

   (b) Go to Device Manager, Sound to uninstall sound driver (Realtek) and reboot,
   (c) Right click downloaded file and select Run as administrator,
   (d) Reboot again.

Regards.

Thanks for this, however it's just the same. Maybe that's just the sound on this machine. Disappointing if so.

One thing I did notice in the sound settings was an Nvidia High Definition Audio driver, however I can't get this to work at all. Keeps saying 'not plugged in'. No idea if that's only there for external sound sources or not.
