I need help, I have been trying for almost a month now to get my audio working on my laptop with  no luck. Its the realtek audio driver and it doesn't show up in the device manager, neither does the webcam.

What I have tried so far:

1. Everything the virtual agent suggested

2. Downloading the audio drivers from HP and installing them. ( It still doesn't show up in device manager)

3. Resetting the PC

4. Doing a fresh install

5. System restore.

6. The HP audio check ( It says no hardware detected)
7. Installing legacy hardware from device manager. (Using this method would crash the computer, then eventually the realtek drivers disappeared from the options).

8. Installing drivers from Realtek website. (This shows up in the apps and features but not in device manager)

9. HP Pc hardware diagnostics ( it says audio test not supported)
10. Bios rollback

Its like the realtek audio drivers was completely remover from the laptop.

I need help, I not really worried about the webcam, I need the audio. I think I have tried everything so far. If you are seeing anything I haven't listed here, I am willing to try it

@DoubleM25 It looks like you've done everything we could have possibly suggested to resolve the issue and since the issue persists, it's most likely a hardware malfunction as the audio test options are not available/detected either, I suggest you talk to HP support and discuss your options, follow the below steps to get started:

1) Click on this link - http://www.hp.com/contacthp/

2) Click on Sign-in or select the product using the below step:

3) Enter the serial of your device.

4) Select the country from the drop-down.

5) Click on "Show Options".

Fill the web-form, to populate a case number and phone number for yourself!

Also, if you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty, if yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from,

here's how private messages work: Click here for details.

P.S: Welcome to HP Community 😉

If you wish to thank me for my efforts, you could click on "Accept as solution" on my post as the solution should help others too.

I have probably the same problem. After a Windows update from June the sound isn't working.

It's not a hardware problem, that's a lie. You could try to recover your Windows from a point before the windows update o reset your laptop.

My temporary solution was to delete the driver and install an old version from 2019 and make a lot of restarts.

I'd never buy an HP again.

@emerNOAUDIO The OP has reinstalled windows among other steps, if it was the same as your issue, a reset would have given some positive results, though the issue seems similar it is not, that said, please provide the complete model name of your device using the below information, so I can help you out:

Note: Please ensure the complete product name/number for a quicker response from the community, as we need to know what we are dealing with to provide an accurate solution:

Same issues after Windows 1909 and 2004 - the Camera is supposedly Not Installed and the Microphone is not pushing sound to apps. Drivers are part of Windows 10 and cannot be installed directly (wow!?).

Note that the internal microphone does actually work as there is an intermittent high-pitched feedback loop ( as if you are on a video call where participants have left an additional mic on by mistake ) coming through internal and external speakers when the internal mic is selected. But, when the mic is Off or an external one is used, the feedback loop is not present.

Suggest HP work with MSFT directly since they know there are issues with the latest versions of Win 10.
