Yes my beeping has changed slightly...  Its the same beep but with a wobble to it..Its  sometimes not heard for an hour or so, then several in a minute...deff same noise tho....I'm not sure I can be bothered going thru the rigmoral of repairs/replacements to then have the same problem...lets see what they say about yours !! If it gets picked up on the right day of course...

Hello Guys,

I suppose HP didn't answered yet about this issue,

I've also a HP Pavillion 15 Notebook PC; running Windows 10 with all patches (Before was runing Windows 8, and I had exactly same issue), I bought it from PC world about 1 year ago, and since then I've also keep hearing these annoying beeps, but mine are more randoms, and it can pass days to weeks when suddenly i hear this beep, but I can hear this beep at least 3 or 5 times on a month with no reason...

I've also noticed this beep is not equal to one recorded here, mine is even lauder and steady  for about 0.5 secs to 1 sec.

In fact is the same beep I heard sometimes when laptop is on, and I take it to put it  in another place... internal accelerometer sensor which park disk automatically in case of a accidental drop is one making this sound in my case is exactly same sound.

but this annoying beep happens when my laptop is just standing over the table and suddenly i hear this beep for no reason at all.

As other people also said here, I have already run all tests, installed all Windows Updates, and that do not solve issue at all...

And I can  also confirm that is not coming from Laptop speakers as it happens when laptop is on mute...

I really can bother calling HP after hearing all your experience with it...

My work is related to IT so and I've also tested this laptop using all internal supplied tests from HP, and I'm unable to find out why still  doing it... unless as other said here is related to a faulty battery... but no reported on tests...

or in my case a faulty accelerometer sensor??  (HP 3D DriveGuard)

But if so, is not being reported on test either;

So I have an update about my laptop.

I recieved an email saying that it's being shipped back, so I logged into the HP service status to see what the issue was.

I was provided with the following.

Your order indicates that this is the primary issue(s) with your product: HDD - EXCESSIVE NOISE - MECHANICAL

This is how your product was repaired: BAD PART.

So I'm guessing the hard drive has been replaced. Fingers crossed this solves the issue.

Thanks for the update.

I'm intrigued to see if changing the HDD is going to rectify the beeping issue.

A further update when you receive your """Fixed""" (Fingers crossed) laptop back would be splendid. I will certainly be getting in contact with HP if it does rectify the issue.

Best of luck!

That's no problem.

Yes it will be interesting to see if this does fix the problem. I'm not sure what day I will recieve it, but I will test it extensively and update back here. Fingers crossed for everyone in this thread! Hopefully we can all have working laptops then.

Update as promised.

I received the laptop back today and the beeping is still present.

I decided to do a little bit of research and have come to the conclusion that it is indeed the hard drive, and the drive I have has received complaints among PS4 users who have put this drive into their PS4's.

"I may have worked out where the beeping comes from and why. It is the hard drive.I googled mine (ST2000LM003 HN-M201RAD (2000GB)) and found a lot of interesting posts, mostly from people who have the drive in their PS4, who also report random beeping. Some speculated it was due to the device not receiving enough power others said to might be due to a high Load/Unload Cycle Count. Some said they got the beeping it to stop after updating their firmware but mine is the latest available for that device so I can't do that."

I think I may just order a different brand of drive and swap it out myself and see if that makes a difference.

Just out of interest could the users from here state which drive is in their machine please. Mine is a Samsung/seagate ST2000LM003 HN-M201RAD. If you don't know how to check its control panel - hardware and sound - device manager (under devices and printers) - and then disk drives. It will show the product number there.

Thanks.

Hello, mine is:

a Samsung: ST1500LM006 HN-M SATA

Capacity: 1.5TB
Spindle Speed: 5,400RPM
Interface Type: SATA
Disk Size: 2.5inx9mm Fits Most laptops
Sustained Throughput (MBps):
Average Seek Time (read/write ms): 12
Electrical Interface Speed: SATA 600 - 6.0Gbps
On-Board Cache: 32MB

I also think it's related to hardrive... and it may be also related to  accelerometer sensor being too sensible... (HP 3D DriveGuard)...

Because when I boot this machine with linux (from an USB UEFI external drive) it work just fine and I don't hear beeping...

Thanks xquake.

So another Samsung drive, interesting.

I'm quite certain changing the hard drive for a different brand will fix my problems. I may wait until the warranty expires before I open the machine up. Why they got rid of the hard drive cover on the underside is beyond me....

ST2000LM003 HN-M201RAD - Samsung Seagate 2TB Laptop HDD

Seems like it is Samsung related.

Going forward I wonder what HP will do about this now???

**I have just realised I have the same one as you!**

Unfortunately not much, as in my case as we saw they just swapped it with the exact same drive again.

I really don't see hp replacing it with a different drive. The only way that's going to happen is if you change it yourself.

I will do that at one point and just stick this Samsung drive into a Caddy and use it as an external drive. How soon I do it really depends on how much it annoys me lol.
