I have the same problem on new laptop HP Model 15-dw1016nl with Windows10 last update.

My wife cannot take an English language lesson online.

The problem is very serious.

At the moment the problem is partially solved, with third party software,

but the problem must be solved by HP, otherwise I return the laptop.

In the audio control settings - playback you may set cable as default, in recording playback you can leave microphnone as default but you in cable setting must folllow the paragraph How to Listen To What You’re Recording.

Flag on listen this device and playbach on speakers.

When you are in Meet and you want send CD, in the Meet options you must set Cable instead of microphone.
