Realtek High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver for Windows 10 v1809

HP Notebook - 15-bs159tu
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I was forced by windows to update my windows 10 from v1803 to v1809. But of course windows doesnt care how this affects people, becuase they seem to do this **bleep** often, and now i have no audio due to no driver.

When will Realtek High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver fior Windows 10 v1809 be released? I have no working audio.

The HP support page does not have a driver for this windows version.
https://support.hp.com/au-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-15-bs100-laptop-pc/16851388/model/20481615?sku=3...

Thank all for any help 🙂

Realtek High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver for Windows 10 v1809

@shakey_hands

As uou know, Windows update/upgrade always breaks something from Audio to printer, to wifi .... Please try to Re-install driver, this should help. Please try

(a) Download the following driver and save on your computer,

    https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp88001-88500/sp88302.exe

or newer

    https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp89001-89500/sp89052.exe

(b) Go to Device Manager, Sound to uninstall sound driver and reboot,
(c) Right click downloaded file and select Run as administrator,
(d) Reboot again.

Regards.

Realtek High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver for Windows 10 v1809

Dear Banhein,

Thanks for the advise. unfortunatly it as not worked.

Firstly, in the device manager thier is no audio driver to uninstall. see screen shot 1.

HP device manager.PNGdevice manager

Secondly, regardless of the above i tried to install the driver sp89052.exe. it didnt work. the install got to about 80% and then a falure error happened. see screen shot 2

HP driver install falure.PNGinstall failure

What does all this mean? I have been using this computer with no issues for the past 6 months. Before this machine i was a mac user for about 8 years, so i dont have a lot of recent expereince with windows issues.
but surely it was the windows update that screwed everything.

Any ideas? I need my sound.

Thankyou heaps

Adam 🙂

My realtek audio controller no longer even shows up in the device manager. Not even in "hidden devices." This windows 10 update really screwed things up. Microsoft at times has shown a tendency to release new versions of whatever, without sufficient user acceptance testing, Like, for example, they will release a new version of Sharepoint or Dynamics AX that is not compatible with the latest versions of their own browsers. So you can imagine how less-than-coordinated they are with other software and hardware vendors, when they can't even coordinate internally with their own teams.

Realtek High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver for Windows 10 v1809

I'm not sure what I did exactly to make the Realtek audio controller to show up again. . I did try all of the above without success. The driver installation was successfull (showing up in program folder). I had rebooted a lot of time.

Finally, I opened the BIOS and to switch the onboard audio from "auto" to "enable". As soon I've rebooted after that, the device showed up and the audio output was working. I still don't have the Realtek menu, but at less, I got sound.

Hi MiG26,

Where did you find the audio setting in the Bios? I went into the Bios using the f10 method but did not see audio settings. What menu/submenu was it?

Thanks

In the advanced menu, I had to scroll down to reach Onboard Audio under under SATA2. I have an A1610N desktop so my Bios might be different then yours. Hope thet will help.

Realtek High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver for Windows 10 v1809

Z600 Windows 10 1809... head phone jack was not working but this fixed it:
    https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp88001-88500/sp88302.exe

had to uninstall the default driver again because it automatically installs when Win10 boots.  Then did not reboot, but installed the driver.

Thanks!!  it worked.
