Hello,

The sound on my laptop is not working. When I put my volume on max the speakers produce no sound and when I plug my headphones in through the audio jack there is still no sound.

I've followed along with the virtual HP assitant and tried several Google suggested solutions but the sound is still not restored. I've also updated the driver to it's most recent and still no results. My iTunes is also not playing properly (and I have updated it accordingly).

Any help would be greatly appreciated! My laptop works fine in every other capacity and hope this can be fixed.

I haven't downloaded the latest HP UEFI Diagnostics, but the sound seems to be working now for no apparent reason.

I wonder if it's a hardward issue? Like a connection came loose or something?

Anywho, thank you for your help!

I'll just call this case closed for now until it happens again.

Hello Benzyl,

A specific model/product number would be appreciated. (Please do not post serial numbers on the HP Support Forum)

Information on how to find a laptop's model/product number is detailed in this HP document.

Just to make sure this isn't a hardware issue, please follow the below steps:

  1. Repeatedly press Esc upon startup
  2. Select F2 (System Diagnostics)
  3. Select the desired language
  4. Navigate to component tests
  5. Select Audio test

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Eddy

The product number is: L0Q60UA#ABL

I tried to check if it was a hardware issue as you suggestd but I got a message that basically said the test wasn't supported and nothing happened.

Hello Benzyl,

Please install the latest version of the HP UEFI Diagnostics available for your device. The newest version specifically states:

  • Added audio controller support for new Intel Processors
