Hello everyone

Ever since I had my laptop, I've been experiencing a sound onset delay for about 1-2 seconds each time I pause and restart some sound or video or whatever, whenever there's speakers or earbuds plugged in the 3.5 mm jack at the left of my laptop. When nothing is plugged in, the sound just works fine.

It's not that the sound starts playing after 1-2 seconds with a constant delay, but it just kicks in; it's like the audio has to be booted up each time I play a sound/song/video when speakers or earbuds are plugged in.

Additionally, I don't know for how long this has been, but the mute toggle led has stopped working (F6 key).

How can I solve these problems?

Thanks

M

Hi,

Try the following.

Download the Realtek HD Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp81001-81500/sp81471.exe

When done, hold down the Windows key and press R

Into the Run window, type devmgmt.msc and hit enter.

In Device Manager, expand Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the Realtek device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.

When complete, download and reinstall the Chipset driver on the following link.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp82501-83000/sp82749.exe

When the Chipset reinstallation has completed, restart the notebook.

When windows has reloaded, open your Downloads folder, right click on the Realtek installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook again and let windows fully load for a few minutes before checking.

Regards,

Hmm doesn't seem to work. Same problems.

Hmm ... At second hand, after a reboot, all seems to be working fine. (Except for the mute LED ...)
