Sound volume increasing and decreasing HP ENVY x360 Convertible 15m-cn0xxx

HP ENVY x360 Convertible 15m-cn0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When I reproduce a sound from video, music or the web, the laptop begins to play and soon the sound decreases, which forces me to increase the volume and, a little later, the sound increases, which forces me to turn down the volume, creating a situation too uncomfortable for a newly purchased product

If I start a sound and dont touch anything the sound decrease and latter the sound goes back to the normality, so the sound increase and decrease without explanation

Sound volume increasing and decreasing HP ENVY x360 Convertible 15m-cn0xxx

@Johan_CR Greetings from the HP Community!

There are a few steps to resolve the issue:

  1. ess Windows key + R to open up a Run dialog box. Then, type “mmsys.cpl” and press Enter to open up the Sound window.
  2. Go to the Playback tab, select the playback device that you’re having issues with, right-click on it and choose Properties.
  3. In the Properties screen, go to the Enhancement tab and check the boss associated with Disable all enhancements (Disable all sound effects).  Then, hit Apply to save the changes.
Note: If you’re speaker/headset settings include Immediate Mode, disable that also.
  4. Restart your computer and see if the issue has been resolved at the next startup.

If the issue persists, try the below steps:

  1. Press Windows key + R to open up a Run dialog box. Then, type “devmgmt.msc” and press Enter to open up Device Manager.
  2. Inside Device Manager, expand the Sound, video and game controllers drop-down menu.
  3. Right-click on the Audio device that is acting up and choose Update driver (Update Driver software).
  4. At the first prompt, click on Browse my computer for driver software.
  5. Then, on the next screen, click on Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.
  6.  Next, start by checking the box associated with Show compatible hardware. Then, select High Definition Audio Device from the list and click Next.
  7. Click Yes at the warning prompt to install this driver over your current driver installation.
  8. Restart your computer to save the changes and see if the volume issue is resolved at the next startup.

I had a volume fluctuation issue as well and after a couple days of troubleshooting I tried removing the bang and olufsen sound app. This fix the problem for me on a zbook g5. Go to control panel and find uninstall the app from the uninstall section. The sound was fine after that, it also solved harsh cutting/popping that the recordings had, in both voice recorder and Camtasia.
