Testing microphone and speakers

I used my laptop for several zoom meetings yesterday, mic worked fine as did the speakers.  Watching a couple of videos on it last night with no problem.  Logged into my zoom meeting this morning only to discover that the microphone no longer worked.  How do I test and fix the issue if it isn't a hardware problem?

No, you have to click use sound and video in Zoom. when login. Also please un mute you microphone.

Duh. I used this same laptop yesterday through a few meetings. Totally would be 4 meetings yesterday and one on Tuesday. Funny thing is that the little mic audio button on the button left corner did not have the slash mark through it indicating that I had muted my mic.  Furthermore the laptop I ended up using had gone from mic working to mic no longer recognized similar to what my HP did. That one is a Dell and guess what once I went in and change me the mic ID it worked great and got me through my meeting.  So when I went back into my HP there was no option to change the mic feed. Not too mention that speakers no longer work either.
