I cannot get the volume bar to go away from my screen. Every time I try to turn the volume down, it goes right back up to 100%. I have tried everything... disabling, uninstalling, and deleting the speakers, reinstalling them... nothing is working. I've played with the properties which only offers a temporary fix, I've done a windows refresh which did nothing but delete all the apps from computer (which I now have to re-download). Neither of the buttons are stuck. I really just don't know what to do at this point. I've had this computer for a few years and I've always had this problem. I don't use it that often but I would occasionally try to fix the issue with no luck. I've had a few techs look at it and they couldn't figure out how to fix it. Now that schools are converting to online learning due to this good ol' covid19.. my child needs to use the computer. This issue is very annoying and it prevents me from being able to switch between apps smoothly because the system thinks I'm pressing a button when I'm not. If I minimize an app such as chrome and try to maximize it again after, I have to go through hell and high water to do that and I'm pretty sure it's because of this issue. Right now my computer uses the RealTek High Definition audio as its default/only device. I have played with the properties of that and even tried to toggle with the levels to turn it down with no luck. Is there any other device that I can download to use for my speaker system or am I stuck being screamed at by my computer? If I disable this, the bar goes away but of course, I have no sound. Please help!😭

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the "Volume bar stuck" issue.
Please try these steps to test the hardware -
1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
3. On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.
4. Click Extensive Test.
If the hardware is fine, I'd suggest you back-up the data and try re-installing the operating system - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool
