Microsoft Windows 11

HP Spectre x360. On board speakers do not work. Auto output does. None of the tests show any problems. I have up graded the drivers and such. I am a techie who is out of ideas. Thanks for any help.

Please

1. Right click speaker icon (bottom right corner)

2. Select Sound settings

What do you see on Output section ? Please choose "Speakers"  for the first item (Choose where to play sound)

Regards.

That means system will automatically switch between them, it should use speakers when no headphones. Software wise nothing wrong. Did it work before you plug in headphones the first time ?

The laptop is several years old and mainly used without local sound, mostly I use hdmi or no sound. I tried contact cleaner just on the chance the problem was dirty contacts on the jack. No effect. Since I rarily us the onboard sound I have desided to just write it off. Thanks for the ideas.
