Pavilion x360 Convertible 14-dh1xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a recent Pavilion x360 model, and I was thinking of upgrading my microphone with a Rode SmartLav+ mic that has a TRRS jack connector. However, I couldn't really find any information on what type of jack my laptop has. I did see somewhere that if a headset is plugged in to the jack, the speakers get disabled. Now this would be an obvious problem if the laptop sees the TRRS mic as a whole headset, and disables the speaker.

So the two questions are:

- Would I be able to make the mic work with my laptop?

- Could I make the speakers work with the mic plugged in?

@susypeti Note: Please ensure the complete product name/number for a quicker response from the community, as we need to know what we are dealing with to provide an accurate solution: Click here for steps on finding the information we need!

Remember: Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.

Alternatively, you can click here and select your model from the list of series mentioned under product specifications.

That said, you have a regular 3.5mm combo jack (microphone & headset)
