HP ENVY x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-eu0000 (267R6AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi! This issue began today and was fluctuating on BBCiPlayer app but now on ITV app constantly low. Updated driver and system, uninstalled driver and downloaded again and no change. Very frustrating. Could it be physically blocked integral speakers themselves? My WiFi speed is fast and consistent btw so can't be that either and tried YouTube and other apps and same across the board.

Hi @VeganTracie,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

If the volume on your HP ENVY x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-eu0000 is fluctuating or consistently low across multiple apps, even after updating and reinstalling drivers, it's understandable that this would be frustrating. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

1. Check Audio Settings:

  • Sound Enhancements: Go to Control Panel > Sound > Playback tab, select your speakers, click Properties, and navigate to the Enhancements tab. Disable all enhancements by checking the box labeled "Disable all enhancements."
  • Audio Balance: In the same Properties window, go to the Levels tab and ensure the balance is set correctly between left and right channels.
  • Spatial Sound: In the Spatial sound tab, try turning it off if it's enabled, as it might cause inconsistent audio levels.

2. Run Audio Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Playing Audio. Run the troubleshooter to detect and fix any audio issues automatically.

3. Update BIOS and Firmware:

  • Sometimes audio issues are related to the BIOS or firmware. Check the HP Support website for any BIOS updates or firmware updates for your laptop model.

4. Check for Conflicting Audio Software:

  • If you have other audio management software installed (like Bang & Olufsen, Realtek Audio Console, or third-party equalizers), check their settings or try disabling them to see if that resolves the issue.

5. Reset Audio Settings in Apps:

  • Some apps have their own volume settings independent of the system volume. Check the settings within the BBC iPlayer, ITV, and other affected apps to ensure the volume is set appropriately.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @VeganTracie,

Please find the remaining steps below.

6. Test with External Speakers or Headphones:

  • Plug in a set of external speakers or headphones to see if the problem persists. If the issue is resolved with external audio devices, it may indicate a hardware issue with the internal speakers.

7. Physically Check Speakers:

  • Check the speaker grilles for any visible blockages, dust, or debris. If the internal speakers are blocked, carefully clean the area to ensure sound isn't obstructed.

8. Reset Audio Drivers to Default:

  • In Device Manager, find Sound, video, and game controllers, right-click on your audio device (e.g., Realtek High Definition Audio), and select Uninstall device. Restart your laptop, and Windows should automatically reinstall the audio drivers.

9. Consider a System Restore:

  • If the issue started recently and none of the above steps work, you might consider doing a system restore to a point before the problem began. This can revert any changes that might have caused the audio issue.

10. Hardware Diagnostics:

  • Use HP’s built-in diagnostics tool (HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows) to run a full hardware check on the audio components. This can help identify if there is a hardware fault with the speakers.

If you've tried all these steps and the problem persists, it's possible there could be a hardware issue with the speakers themselves. In this case, contacting HP phone support or visiting a service center might be necessary to have the speakers inspected or replaced.

Thanks so much. I will try some of the steps you've suggested tomorrow as it's late here in UK. I did do a system restore from a point before the issue occured and it didn't work. I also got drastic as another poster suggested and uninstalled the B&O app but that didn't help either and now I can't find a way of reinstalling that. Do u have any ideas on that issue too? Will let u know how I get on tomorrow. Thanks so much again for your advice as it's very much appreciated x

So I'd pretty much tried everything you suggested already when I began to go through the list but the one thing I hadn't was to disable the Realtek output and then enable it again and restart. So far so good so I have everything crossed. Weird fix so I don't know whether to be quietly confident or not, I guess we'll see. If I get any more trouble then I will try the hardware diagnostics and plugging in an external speaker.

Hi Again!

Well that didn't last long 😞 However I downloaded some updated firmware via the HP Support Assistant already installed and so far so good although I'm not terribly confident of anything lasting as it all seems pretty unstable. I also plugged in an old JLab speaker I have from the States in and that worked perfectly so at least I have a work around for now if the volume goes really low again. Does that sound like the issue could be the hardware itself to you? I'd already run the hardware diagnostic fast and extensive tests and nothing was detected. Also do you know if there is any way I can reinstall the B&O app that I deleted in my quest to find a solution? Thanks once again for all your help x
