Pavilion g6
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After a big windows update, my audio quality became poor and the volume was lower. I tried this solution:

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/Poor-quality-of-audio-sound-after-windows-update/td-p/6...

The audio quality is better now but not the same as it used to be, volume still a little too low especially for voices.

My product no. : D4A20EA#UUG

I've had this problem before when i updated from windows 8.1 to 10. I was able to fix it then but I forgot where.

What I still remember:

I went into safe mode -> troubleshoot -> advanced options

I don't remember the next step to get where i fixed it, but it looked like an overview with all the original drivers(it was black background with orange text I think, don't know if that rings a bell)

I reinstalled the audio driver there and everything worked great again.

If someone knows what I'm talking about or could help me in another way, that would be great.

Thank you for the reply @Rainbow23

I tried to reinstall the sound drivers from the device manager like you said, but it still didn't give the expected result.
I also tried the system restore but unfortunately there was no restore point before the update that caused the problem.

Then i tried to look up the audio driver for my product number:

https://support.hp.com/nl-nl/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-g6-2200-notebook-pc-series/5296082/mode...

When I installed the audio driver for windows 8.1(10 not available), my sound problems where fixed!

I feel a little bit stupid that I didn't try this first, the one I first installed was from the post I mentioned and not for my product number. I lost allot of time with the system restore, but in the end, I'm just happy that the problem is fixed 😄

Hi @erlich,

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that you are facing sound issues on your HP computer.

Let's go through a few steps that may help to fix this issue.

Please follow the steps listed below to uninstall and reinstall the sound drivers from the device manager:

1) Right click on the start icon and click on device manager.

2) Under "Sound, video and game controllers", right click on the device listed and click on uninstall.

3) Check the box "Delete the driver software for this device".

4) Click on OK/Uninstall to confirm the uninstallation.

5) If you have multiple devices listed under "Sound, video and game controllers", then repeat the same step for each of them.

6) Restart the computer.

If the issue persists, then I suggest that you perform a system restore from the link: System Restore (Windows 10, 😎

Let me know how this works.

You have a good day ahead.

IDT Company has been bought by Tempo Semiconductor https://temposemi.com/ for the audio devices and they have the list of IDT drivers on their page. This made my newly updated Windows 10 PC return to life for the sound like the same day when I bought my PC.

I hope you can get the same result as I did on my PC.

(Extract the file and do the update on device manager then restart!)
