Hi @JSR5,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

If your HP Pavilion 15-cd024au's internal microphone is not working with local apps on Windows 11, despite diagnostics indicating it's enabled, there could be a conflict with settings, drivers, or permissions. Here are steps to help you resolve the issue:

1. Check Microphone Default Device Settings:

  • Right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and select Sound settings.
  • Under the Input section, ensure the Internal Microphone is selected as the default input device.
  • If you see an external mic or headset as the default, click on the internal microphone and set it as the default.

2. Verify Microphone Privacy Settings:

  • Go to Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone.
  • Ensure that Microphone access is turned on for the device.
  • Scroll down and make sure that the setting Let apps access your microphone is turned on, and specific apps you want to use the microphone with have permission.

3. Update or Reinstall Audio Drivers:

  • Open Device Manager by pressing Win + X and selecting Device Manager.
  • Expand Audio inputs and outputs.
  • Right-click on Internal Microphone and select Update driver > Search automatically for drivers.
  • If no updates are available or this doesn’t resolve the issue, try reinstalling:
    • Right-click on the Internal Microphone and select Uninstall device.
    • Restart your laptop, and Windows will reinstall the necessary drivers automatically.

4. Disable Audio Enhancements:

  • Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar, then click Sound settings.
  • Select the Internal Microphone under the Input section, then click on Device properties and choose Additional device properties.
  • Go to the Enhancements tab (if available) and disable all enhancements by checking Disable all sound effects.

5. Adjust Microphone Levels:

  • In Sound settings, under Input, click on Device properties.
  • Click on Additional device properties, navigate to the Levels tab, and ensure that the microphone volume is turned up and not muted.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hi @JSR5 ,

Please find the remaining steps below.

6. Run the Audio Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  • Find Recording Audio and click Run. Follow the prompts to let Windows identify and fix any issues automatically.

7. Test the Microphone in Different Applications:

  • Check the microphone functionality in different applications like Voice Recorder, Zoom, or Microsoft Teams to see if the issue persists across all apps or is specific to one app.

8. Set Up the Microphone in Windows:

  • Go to Settings > System > Sound > Input.
  • Click on Set up in the Get started section under Test your microphone.
  • Follow the steps to set up and test your microphone.

9. Check BIOS Settings:

  • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS setup (usually by pressing F10, Esc, or another key during startup).
  • Look for any settings related to the microphone and ensure it is enabled.

10. Reset or Reinstall Windows Apps:

  • If the microphone works in some apps but not in others, try resetting or reinstalling the specific apps via Settings > Apps > Installed apps.

If the internal microphone still doesn't work after trying all the above steps, the issue might be hardware-related. In such cases, consult HP phone support.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
