I have Beats Audio on my Envy. In the past, with major updates I lose Beats stereo, a mono sound resulting. Running [edit] always solved the problem.
After the major update of 5/19/18, however, I have lost all sound. I've checked audio commands on Windows and on Beats; both say I should have sound. Having nothing else to try, I ran the above file. Still soundless.
(ps I guess my Windows is 32 bit, but I really don't know--it could be 64)
How can I recover beats sound or any sound?

Your machine is an HP ENVY dv7-7243cl . No drivers for Windows 10
Now please try again
(a) Goto Device Manager, Sounds then right click and Uninstall
(b) Reboot,
(c) Right click downloaded file and select run as administrator.
(d) Reboot again.
Regards.

Alas, I am one of those using computers in magic ignorance. While I can install the software you gave me, I don't know how to first delete the existing sound driver, which I suppose must be sp63555.exe. I will try to hunt it down somehow and delete it.

While I don't know how to remove my prior sound driver, I ran the program you provided. No change. Still soundless. I was hoping that Rebooting after running the program (as one has to) would use your new sound driver. Either that did not happen or the program doesn't work on my system.
Sorry. It's all I knew to dow.

Before posting on the Forum, I fiddled around a bit with my volume settings. Doing everything you said, I still had no sound. Going through the settings, I found that "communication speaker" had been set as default rather than standard speakers. Changing that, all is fine, sound back as it was. I kind of dobut the Update made that change, so I must have. For all I know, my first attempt with your patch worked and I didn't know it for the default change.
Thanks for your patience,
Greg

dsexton,
I cannot help you, being too ignorant. But if you lost audio right after the spring Windows update, I think someone on this forum can. I have lost audio three times after a Windows update and each time someone has provided a patch which resotred my sound.
Start your own post. You will need to provide your notebook make and model type (number) and what version of Windows you run on. (Most likely you have 32 bit rather than 64 bit, by the way). I think it quite likely that someone will solve the problem. The Forum seems dedicated to doing exactly that.
(But start your own post, don't ask on this message (post) thread, because you might not be heard. You will be if you start a new post detailing your problem. You could use my first post on this thread as example.
