Hi @girishkutnola19,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it is when your HP Pavilion Plus 14-inch Laptop PC 14-ew0000 (7X843AV) microphone stops working and shows a disable error. especially after Windows updates or driver changes. Let’s walk through the steps to get your mic working again.

Recommended Steps to Fix Microphone Not Working (Disable Error)

1. Check Microphone Privacy Settings

Windows may have disabled microphone access for apps.

  • Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone
  • Click Change and ensure Microphone access for this device is turned ON
  • Also, turn on Allow apps to access your microphone
  • Scroll down and enable access for specific apps (Zoom, Teams, etc.).

2. Run the Audio Troubleshooter

This can automatically detect and fix microphone issues.

  • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters
  • Run Recording Audio Troubleshooter
  • Follow the on-screen instructions.

3. Check Sound Settings

Make sure the microphone is enabled and set as the default.

  • Right-click the sound icon in the taskbar → Sounds
  • Go to the Recording tab
  • Right-click your microphone (e.g., Microphone Array or Realtek) → Enable
  • Set it as the Default Device and the Default Communication Device
  • Click Properties > Levels and ensure volume is not muted.

4. Update or Reinstall Audio Drivers

Corrupted or outdated drivers can cause the disable error.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
