Good afternoon, I have an HP 250 G7 Notebook PC, product code 2D177EA#ABE. I think it has a hardware problem with the microphone. When I speak, people can't hear me or they hear me very softly. Thinking it was a driver issue, I updated and/or reinstalled them, and it still does the same thing. I also go to the record tab in the driver properties of the operating system, and when I speak, all I get is a green line. I almost have to shout to get more lines to appear when I speak. I've even reinstalled the operating system from scratch, and the problem persists. It seems to be a hardware issue. So, I'm going to consider replacing the internal microphone. However, I have a question because, after examining the laptop internally, I'm not sure whether the microphone is integrated into the camera unit or not. Initially, it seems that it is.

To replace the microphone, do I have to replace the integrated webcam? Or where is the microphone on this model?

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

¿Para cambiar el micrófono intento tengo que cambiar la camara web integrada? o en ¿donde esta el micrófono en este modelo?

Muchas gracias.

Un saludo.

Hello,

For the HP 250 G7 Notebook PC (product code 2D177EA#ABE), the microphone is indeed integrated into the webcam module. HP does not provide the internal microphone as a standalone field-replaceable component on this model — it’s part of the camera/microphone combo module mounted in the display bezel.

Here’s a breakdown based on the HP 250 G7 Maintenance and Service Guide:

Microphone location and assembly

  • The dual-microphone array is built into the top bezel beside the webcam lens.

  • The microphones are part of a single “Camera module with integrated dual microphones” assembly.

  • The audio cable from that module runs along the display harness back to the system board.

Replacement

To fix a defective microphone on this model, you must replace the entire webcam module.
The typical spare part numbers are:

  • L52061-001 – HD camera module with integrated dual microphone (for non-IR version)

  • L52062-001 – HD camera module with IR support (for models with Windows Hello)

You can confirm which one you need by checking the camera cable connector type on your unit (single vs dual cable).

Procedure (summary)

  1. Power off and disconnect all power sources, including the battery (if accessible).

  2. Remove the display bezel (carefully pry from the inner edges).

  3. Disconnect the camera/microphone cable from the back of the module.

  4. Remove the single retaining screw and lift the module out.

  5. Install the new module, reconnect the cable, and reassemble.

Tip: Before full reassembly, boot into Windows and test the microphone and camera to confirm operation.

If after replacement the microphone still records faintly, test again in BIOS-level diagnostics (F2 → Component Tests → Audio) — this ensures the issue isn’t cable-related or on the motherboard input path.
