@markyboy1298, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

That sounds really frustrating, especially when it's been happening for a month despite all your updates. Let's break this down and get your laptop back to sounding the way it should.

Check Playback Settings

Right-click the speaker icon on the taskbar → Sounds → Go to the Playback tab.

Select your laptop speakers → Click Properties → Go to Advanced tab.

Try setting the Default Format to 16 bit, 44100 Hz (CD Quality).

Uncheck both Exclusive Mode boxes. Click Apply.

Disable Audio Enhancements

In the same window (Properties of speakers) → Go to Enhancements (or Advanced, depending on version).

Check “Disable all enhancements” or “Disable all sound effects.”

Click Apply and test.

Check for Latency or CPU/Memory Issues

Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).

Watch for CPU or RAM spikes when playing video/audio. If a certain app is hogging resources, that could cause glitches.

Also check the Performance tab to confirm your CPU isn't being throttled.

Clean Reinstall of Audio Drivers

Open Device Manager → Expand Sound, video and game controllers.

Right-click your audio driver → Uninstall device → Check Delete the driver software.

Reboot your laptop. Let Windows reinstall a basic driver.

Then visit your HP support page and install the latest audio driver manually.

Check Video Playback Apps

Try playing a video using a different media player.

Try both local videos and streaming (YouTube/Netflix). If only one type is affected, the problem could be with the browser or player.

Run Windows Audio Troubleshooter

Go to Settings → System → Sound → Troubleshoot.

Let it detect and auto-fix common issues.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
