Hi @Bethy98,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Laptop Power Issues on Model 14-ce0597sa!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

1. Perform a Hard Reset:

Reset Procedure for Laptops with a Battery:

  • Power off the laptop completely.
  • Unplug the laptop from any power sources.
  • Remove the battery (if detachable).
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and the charger.
  • Attempt to power on the laptop.

Reset Procedure for Laptops with Non-removable Battery:

  • Power off the laptop completely.
  • Disconnect the laptop from any power sources.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the charger and attempt to power on the laptop.

2. Check Power Supply and Connections:

Verify Charger and Outlet:

  • Ensure the charger is securely connected to both the laptop and the power outlet.
  • Test the outlet with another device to confirm it is functioning.

Inspect Power Adapter and Cable:

  • Check for any damage or fraying on the power adapter and cable. Consider using another compatible charger if available.

3. Check for Reseating Components:

  • Remove and Reseat Memory Modules:
    • If comfortable doing so, remove the RAM modules and reinsert them to ensure proper contact.

4. Boot into BIOS:

  • Access BIOS:
    • Attempt to access the BIOS by pressing Esc or F10 as you power on the laptop to determine if it can boot to the BIOS setup screen. If accessible, it indicates a potential software issue, not hardware.

5. Perform Battery and LED Tests:

  • LED Indicator:
    • If your laptop has a battery indicator light, observe the color and behavior of the LED. Refer to HP's support documentation for LED diagnostic codes.

6. Run Hardware Diagnostics:

  • HP Hardware Diagnostics:
    • If able to boot or access any screen, perform hardware diagnostics to identify potential issues. These can often be run by pressing Esc during startup, then selecting Diagnostics (F2), if available.

I hope this helps.
