Hi!
I have an Omen 15 dh0004 and since replace the cooling system (was broken), my notebook doesn't works anymore. At first, shows me error 502 for CMOS. I even didn't have time to pres enter and the screen changes. I tried to enter Windows and shows me a message telling me that I maked so many tries with password, so i have to use other method or wait 2 hours. Then, shut down without any possibility to make something.
Blinks 5 long 3 shorts, and I tried everything. But some things happened:
1.- battery out for a week, and enter again to Windows No internet signal at all. Shut down again.
2.- I entered to BIOS. Change the date and everything it's the same. Shut down and doesn't works
3.- buy a new battery. (Original HP) turn up and shut down, until shows me again the windows screen to put the PIN, but now, I have an internet conection. Shows me the same message about many tries with the passwords. And shut down forever, but when I turn IP, the fan tries to works and shut down again.
4.- F10 to enter BIOS, doesn't works
5.- ESC to enter UEFI diagnosis either.
6.- windows + B, i can't even know because my notebooks have many keys that doesn't works. Always have temperature issues. So my unique possibility is use an USB keyboard. Guess what? USB doesn't works.
I don't know what to do. I have very bad experiences with HP Tech services in my country. I had warranty sercives but when I need it, they deny to have the spare parts that HP accept to change for manufacturing issues.

Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query.
It sounds like you are encountering multiple issues with your Omen 15 dh0004, likely tied to the hardware changes, especially related to the cooling system replacement. When a CMOS error and other behavior like password issues and shutdowns appear, there could be a mix of issues in the system (BIOS corruption, hardware malfunction, etc.). Let's go through some steps that might help you isolate and hopefully resolve the problem.
1. CMOS Error (502) and BIOS Reset
The "502" CMOS error can typically indicate a failure to communicate with the CMOS battery, which keeps the BIOS settings and the system clock intact.
- Reset the BIOS/CMOS Settings:
- Power off the laptop completely.
- Remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter.
- Hold the power button for 15 seconds to drain any residual power.
- Reconnect the battery and AC adapter, then power on the laptop. This should reset the BIOS settings.
- Check BIOS Battery: If this error persists even after resetting the BIOS, the issue could be with the CMOS battery or the motherboard. Since you already replaced the main battery, make sure that the CMOS battery (if accessible) is working.
2. Password Lockout and Recovery
You mentioned being locked out after multiple failed password attempts.
Wait for 2 hours as prompted, then retry.
Use a Password Reset Tool: If you have access to a USB drive or secondary device, you might be able to use a password reset disk or use Microsoft's account recovery tool via a different computer (requires an internet connection).
If you're trying to unlock a local account, you can reset the password using another Windows recovery method, but if your laptop is linked to a Microsoft Account, you can go to another computer, log into your Microsoft account, and reset the password online.

3. UEFI Diagnostics and BIOS (F10, ESC, Windows+B) Not Working
Given that you have trouble with F10 and ESC and no USB works, it suggests that the motherboard may have some deeper issues, especially after the cooling system replacement.
Try the "Windows + B" Method: This is a common way to force the system into recovery mode. Since USB doesn’t work, it might be an issue with the motherboard or USB ports, especially if the internal hardware isn’t detecting the keyboard properly. You may need to test another USB port or reset the BIOS settings completely as mentioned earlier to allow this method to work.
Consider Booting from a USB Flash Drive: If you can manage to get a USB keyboard working on a different port (check with another keyboard), you might try booting from a Windows installation USB drive:
- Create a bootable Windows 10/11 USB drive on another working computer.
- Insert it into your Omen laptop and try to boot from the USB by pressing F9 to access the boot menu.
4. Try to Recover Windows via Safe Mode or Recovery Environment
If you can somehow manage to boot into Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE), you can troubleshoot further.
- Power off the laptop completely.
- Power it on and immediately press F11 to enter Windows Recovery Environment (if it lets you).
- If you do manage to boot into the recovery environment, select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Repair.
5. Check for Hardware Issues Related to Cooling System
Since the laptop worked until the cooling system replacement, it could be that something was improperly installed or there’s an issue with the connection to the motherboard.
Double-check the Cooling System Connections: Make sure that the heatsink and fan assembly is correctly seated and that no connectors or parts are loose or disconnected. If something is shorting or not connected properly, it might be causing the system to shut down.
Check Internal Cables/Connectors: Ensure that all internal cables (like the power button or keyboard) are connected properly. If the power button or keyboard is not recognized, it might shut down immediately.
6. Attempt to Recover BIOS
If the laptop's BIOS is corrupted or has issues, it may not allow you to perform any basic functions like entering BIOS or running diagnostics.
- Use a BIOS Recovery (if available): Some HP laptops allow you to recover the BIOS even if it’s corrupted. To perform a BIOS recovery:
- Power off the laptop.
- Download the latest BIOS version for your specific model from the HP website.
- Place the BIOS file on a USB drive.
- Follow the HP BIOS recovery steps (check the HP support website or manuals for detailed steps specific to your model).
I hope these steps help resolve the issue
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thanks, but doesn't Apply to my problem.
3.- i changed the battery and the same thing happened. I Back to old cooling system and battery, and after Manu attemps, the notebook turn on...but fail again when I change again the cooling system. So, not apply to my case.
2.- about the password. It was a PIN, not a password. The message SAID that was about multiple attemps, but it wasn't my case. Just one attenps and block me to enter windows. After my computer fail again, I changed the pin. And after that, i repaired windows.
So, that's no applied to my case, again 😭

And about this response. Doesn't apply to my case, again.
3.-now the computer shows the light on power button.the fan start and turn off. And shows 5 long and 3 shorts again. Don't let me do anything.
Method windows +B never works for me.
4.- IF my computer don't turn on, it's impossible enter to that part of Windows. I do this days ago when i have the old cooling system and old battery. Just fixed the pin issue.
5.- i review many times the cooling system. Mybunique possibily its that when explorer, the líquid makes something inside. Review again with this on mind, and there's no sign of damage. The cooling system doesn't have any electronic part. IT just cooper and plastic.
6.- there's no way to enter BIOS now 😭 i tried to put the old spares, but it doesn't fix my problems, because it's an old damage spare.
Despite my bad experiences with technical services, I looked for the ones that HP recommends. The page no longer exists or shows no data.

I make new test today and after leaving the computer on, even though it doesn't do anything, I checked the computer's parts and curiously where the Intel Optane memory H10 goes, it is at a high temperature, even though the computer doesn't do anything. The rest of the parts are cold.
This seems even stranger to me than the rest of the problema.

Sorry, but I don't think that a true support consist sending a private message telling me that I need to call to Call center...
We're in 2025, not 90's
Why do you avoid writing me the same thing on this forum and say that you will give me private support when that is not true at all?
It's really annoying when you use the frustration word for everything, when in my case it's disappointment for spent so much money on a poor quality notebook. The motherboard is chinese without any brand recognizable and it's components are really low quality.
The more I read about the brand, the more comments I find talking about temperature management issues...
It's a shame to ask to accept the solution privately if you tell me to call the call center...
If someone wants to read, here's the private message...
