My laptop is disabled and asking for the administrator password. After three failed attempts the password is 54656865. What is the required password? Thanks.

Thank you very much, are there any other steps/requirements after I have entered my password? Thanks.

Hi,

You're welcome :generic:

There's nothing further you need to do - entering the code from my previous post will have removed the requirement for a power on password.

All the best,

Thanks, but there's another problem. After entering the password my laptop loaded and I opted to reset it back to the factory settingS. It got to 98% and it stayed like that for 10/15 minutes and then finally said, "there was a problem resetting". It the came up with a menu with various options e.g. Trouble shoot etc. So this time I selected 'continue to Windows 10'. Then the laptop went to a black screen and the HP logo came up (like when the laptop has just been turned on) and then the logo disappeared however, the background was still lit. Then it would go to a black screen and then again the HP logo reappeared. This process was repeated. I turned my laptop off and left it for half an hour and turned it back on and it is still doing the same thing. Any help or advice would be deeply appreciated, Thanks.

Hi,

Did the notebook originally come with Windows 10, or did you upgrade to 10 from Windows 8.1?

Did you create Recovery Media?  If you did, have you tried booting from this to reinstall the OS?
