OMEN by HP Laptop 17-an0xx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello guys,

First of all, thanks for taking the time to answer my request.

So  lets go to the center of the problème.

I work in computer science in cybersécurity and i bought this laptop aftetr having used a lenovo e430 laptop. To be fair i first hesitated between this laptop and the lenovo legion. When i purchased this product, it was marked no where that the bios was locked so now i need to get accès to advanced option to be able to use this computer for my studies but i cant find any answer no where.

So i am here today to ask you how cant i get acces to the advanced bios.

And if i cannot what options do  i have.

Thanks

No advanced options available on HP "consumer class" laptops. The Lenova is a "business class" and has more options -as does HP "business class" like Elitebook, etc.

The information was no where mentionned when i bought the pc. And a gaming pc with this capabilities is much more powerfull than an elitebook. Ons would have expected to have acces to the bios options. How was  i supposed to know that this was a consummer class?

The computer is part useless for the tasks i bought it for?

what are the options left then?

Sorry, but "Gaming" laptop should be the clue. Businesses don't buy gaming laptops.

If you clarify what exactly you are trying to accomplish in advanced options someone may be able to offer alternative ways. Several in the Expert program have Omen test machines.

@Tuxvador

Another member with an Omen mentioned this video about Omen. Is this your BIOS setup?

The vidéo you sent me is exactly what i am trying to get.

I dont have any thing in the advanced tab and i cant configure my laptop.

How did you get to the advanced menu?

@Tuxvador

The video  does say it was created for training purposes and is on a pre-production laptop. Not really meant for public viewing. Sorry, I don't have a clue how you would access the populated Advanced tab or IF it is even available on post-production laptop.

There are several videos on Youtube that show using Esc to halt startup- then pressing A+F10 to enter BIOS. Others say press CTRL + F10. I have not tested any of those methods.

 @Photoray002 may have some ideas since he has an Omen or at least be able to clarify if he has that Advanced tab populated on his Omen.

The image you probably looked at was setup for pre-production for testing before final release.

The final release of the laptop does not have access to any Advanced bios settings unfortunately. I have tried myself.

As I understand it, not all HP business models have full bios features either.

Thanks for you answers,

The problem is i bought the laptop expecting to be able to tweak it by having acces to the bios, I work in computer science and i dont see how i can take full advantages of the capabilities of my laptop if i dont have acces to this parameters.

Now that the product is bought what i suppose to do if i dont have this basic option that i tought would be included. I have a lenovo e430 on which in can modify the bios as i want i dont understand why on a more recent and powerfull laptop the decision was made to restrict my access.

I bought thr product to be able to use it as i wish and i am very fustrated by the decision made not to let me configure my laptop as i want.
