Good Day. Thank you for posting your query in the HP community. I read the post regarding issues with the computer not powering on after being shut down. I will be delighted to assist you here.
Superb description and spectacular troubleshooting and commendable diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂
To assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this:
- Did this happen after a power outage or surge?
- Is there a light on the power button of the notebook and do you hear the fan spin?
For now, please try these steps:
Let me keep you posted that it clearly indicates that the printer has a hardware issue and this is only an attempt to try and resolve the issue. If it does not work the printer needs to be replaced by contacting HP phone support.
- Please perform a hard reset on the notebook by following instructions from this link: https://hp.care/2nwQ054
Now check if the issue gets resolved.
- Also, try different wall outlets by passing power strips by connecting the charger directly to the wall outlet.
- If possible try connecting a different charger to the notebook by taking it to a local Best Buy or Staples store to isolate the issue between the charger and the notebook as 2 chargers cannot go faulty.
If the issue continues, then please perform all the relevant steps that best match the current issue from this guided troubleshooter link: https://hp.care/2rjDvKX (HP PCs - No Power or No Boot Troubleshooting)
Now check if the issue gets resolved.
- If it continues, try the steps from this link: https://hp.care/2IbggMQ (HP Notebook PCs - Computer Does Not Start (Windows 8) and follow the most relevant option that matches the current issue.
If the issue persists, then contact HP phone support to get the computer serviced as it is a hardware issue with the computer. I am being honest about it by keeping your best interest in mind without beating around the bush.
HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: https://hp.care/2r9wSvP
- Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.
- Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.
- Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.
- Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
They will be happy to assist you immediately.
If the unit is under warranty, the manufacturer’s warranty should take care of it for you.
Perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. Good luck to you. I will keep a watch for your response.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
