I know HP support will not give a specific solution thinking a laptop may be illegally obtained, but I am trying to update the BIOS on an HP OMEN 15-ce198wm. Was my son's computer. Asking for administrator BIOS password, none was ever set. Also, 3 wrong guesses asks for Sparekey recovery on USB, which does not exist. The system works, fresh install of windows on a new SSD drive, just cannot update the BIOS. Looking for any reasonable solution that does not involve a new motherboard. System is well out of warranty, can't get email support, so what's next? Doesn't seem reasonable to have to pay for support when this is not an issue of my own making.

Yes, the canned response. So the solution proposed is not acceptable - I would have to call and pay for support for something that should be free. Any other solution? It does not need to be posted on the forum.
