The notebook has been blue screening daily for 60 days. All the drivers were brought up to date a week ago. It stayed stable for 5-6 hours and then blue screened again. Today I checked the BIOS and it was two revs down. When I did the BIOS update it ended with a black screen and a slow flashing caps lock key. The screen is completely dark (displaying black is brighter than this, this is just off). The caps lock flashing led is On-off-On-then a long break and repeat.

First try ensuring the machine is completely powered off, then hold the windows key and the letter B together and turn on the machine, this should initiate a BIOS recovery, once that screen appears, you can release the keys and all should be well once it completes.
If this results in the flashing CAPS light, please follow further instructions below:
Use the link below to find and download the BIOS for your machine (you will need to do this on a computer, not a phone/tablet). Run the .exe file and select the option to create a recovery USB, insert a blank USB flash drive to do this. Once created, insert the USB into the notebook while powered off then turn on, this should initiate a BIOS update/recovery.

If this still does not resolve your issue then you will need to seek further support from HP as your machine may require a service.

Just nothing but flashing caps lock after seeing the flash drive accessed a second time.
I'm going to take it to platinum level support partner after gutting it for both hard drives. I'll give it a bootable Win 7 drive and a blank 1 TB SSHD (the same as what it shipped with). It reads a 931 GB formatted so it may have the recovery stripe on it.
Hmm... While I'm at it I'll try the BIOS recovery withe the SSHD as C: executing "...then hold the windows key and the letter B together and turn on."
