HP EliteBook 840 G1 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a HP840 G1 which was sold to me without BIOS Password (confirmed by seller technician).

I used to enter BIOS with no psw, so that was the "original situation".

I ran some of the HP software to keep my laptop updated (eg TPM).

For some reason to me unknown, now BIOS has an Administrator Password set.

I do swear I never entered a Bios Psw from Bios interface.

So I am now wondering what **bleep** is the cause of psw being set.

I do suppose a Macrium Restore will not resolve, as Bios Psw should be coded elsewere.

Can anyone help in understanding which HP processes may have set such BIOS password?

Any help or suggestion would be truly appreciated.

(btw: already contacted HP Support both Italy and UK and they confirm that for Policy Change they will no longer provide SCM.BIN file to reset Bios Psw - I also discovered this Policy Change entered in force on 01.Jan.2022)
