Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi everyone,

My issue is that I was helping a friend by changing the HD that I'm really used to do, install windows 10 for him but then I was installing all drivers downloaded from hp support webpage and when it was updating the BIOS it restart the machine and never come back.

It's just a black screen not allowing to enter into BIOS or windows.

So I read the topic about recovery and get the information that we need to press windows key + b or v hold, press power bottom etc.

I follow this tutorial for 100 times, but never prompt me for BIOS recovery screen.

The native OS was win 8.1 but I update for win 10 for him, so I tried create several diffent flash drives with win 8, win 10, BIOS drivers but nothing.

Look like it try to read the flash drive pressing the keys but nothing shows on display.

I tried to wait for minutes to see if its just not working through the display but it's running on the backgroud but nothing.

Please somebody could help me, it's really bad give back a computer that was working as a pile of trash.

Just to know I already have fixed computers since 1994, windows 3.11, that's the first time that something like that happen in my hand, all other issues could be fixed without need of eeprom re-writening.

Thank you for your attention.

Hi,

Try to hard reset notebook [Remove the battery and then press and hold the power button for 15 seconds Re-insert the battery] now try to recover the BIOS.

The BIOS recovery option is not available for all notebooks. You need to create BIOS recovery USB in order to recover the bios.

  1. Download BIOS installer for your notebook on another PC.
  2. Plug in USB drive (use empty USB).
  3. Create bootable BIOS recovery USB drive using BIOS installation wizard.
  4. Now plug in this USB to the defective notebook.
  5. Shut down your notebook.
  6. Press and hold "Windows button + B"
  7. while pressing "windows button +B" press power button for 2-3 seconds.
  8. Release power button but do not release "windows button + B" until bios recovery screen doesn't appear. (or you may listen to some beeping sounds)

Hi pritam2015,

Thanks for the advise but that was exactly the thing I did that I mention on the post.

The problem is that I tried several times and never shows the BIOS Recovery image, just never did beeps or nothing, I have tried with windows button + B and +V and both together and alone and with holding F2, try recovery with F11.

I'm really hopping that there is another key combination or something like that.

But thank you for the try. I appreciate that.

Hi,

I think bios firmware might be damaged during bios installation. Usually, it dosen't happens but you tried to install bios and other drivers simultaneously, when you restarted the notebook other drivers are already updating the status of different hardware into your system and you tried to update the bios at the same time this made some serious conflicts in the bios.

I'm sorry but there is no way to fix this problem, you need to replace the bios firmware on your motherboard.

Hi,

Thank you again for trying to help me, I haven't install with other updates it was one by time , at least the ones that require restart at the end.

Well about the eeprom re write I think is needed to take off the chip from the board and solder it again right?

That's the last resorts, I hope somebody can help me with different try because I really cannot believe that this procedure create a recovery USB in case something went wrong and then the USB worth nothing. What is the point of the : Create a recovery USB, if there is a problem with the BIOS flash the USB should recover the problem right? At least the program that we download with BIOS should boot on the computer start.

If I restart the computer with the recovery USB and the BIOS recovery show on the screen and there is some problem yet so I agree in take of the chip and rewrite it.

But the problem is that the computer try to read the USB in the start but nothing show on the display so something must be happening on the BIOS recovery software on the USB device.

I tryied different kind because the computer come native with win 8 so I try to recover with win 8 BIOS from drivers on HP web.  I tried to boot with win 10 too, that it's the new OS.

I want to know if somebody have the link for that specific BIOS utility that was there.

Insydeh20 setup utility rev 5.0 F00

Because when I try putting the ones that is linked on drivers webpage and there is no related with that just updates for new rev.

Thank you

Hi,

Thanks man I appreciate that, that's the one that is on the officail web site, that ones I tried them all, for win 10 and win 8 (because it was the native OS)

The thing is that it's all updates since the first that is f.08, but I'm 100% sure that the one that was installed there was the f.00 , I want to search that one, because that maybe can be recognized, I dunno. That's my last try I think.

Or if there is another key combinations or another way to access the BIOS recovery.

Thank you

Rodrigo

Thank you man I appreciate all your try. I'll wait a little bit for other persons to share their opinion about, and tell me if someone have that BIOS version, or if somebody from HP can give an answer.

I believe on forums, that's a great way to Companies don't let the clients behind.

Thank you

I'm kinda disapointed, I appreciate the help from the only user that reply, but there is no reply from HP or any other user as well.
