HP 15-DA0032WM
Linux

Hi! I'm trying to update the BIOS for my HP 15-DA0032WM. Unfortunately, the OS is gone, so I can't do the normal BIOS update through Windows approach.

I downloaded the BIOS on another computer and created the recovery USB drive. But when I try to use the bootable flash drive that was created through that process, it isn't bootable. I have the option to boot from an EFI file, but when I select any of the EFI files on the USB, I get the message: "The selected boot device failed. Press <Enter> to continue."

Any guidance on how to get the BIOS to update successfully?

Welcome to HP Community

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

May I know why are you trying to update the BIOS?

You can follow the instructions in step 2 from this Link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02693833 and try to create the bootable drive again

If the issue persists I suggest you get the OS reloaded using the HP Recovery Media and then try updating the BIOS again

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file inorder to install Windows operating system. Click here: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c06162205 to Use the HP Cloud Recovery Tool (Windows 10, 7)

Click here: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04758961#AbT3 to perform a System Recovery (Windows 10)

Thank you
