My laptop is hp elitebook 745 and it suddenly flash a blue error with bad system config info. I tried restarting it few times but advance option is still now showing I also tried the f11 and run a diagnostic which says that it passed. I've been trying to force shutdown it when the logo shows to automatic repair but it is still not showing. What do I do?

Hi  @Kcassie

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thank you for reaching out. I understand your HP EliteBook is displaying a "Bad System Config Info" blue screen error and Windows is not loading into the Advanced Startup Options. I'm glad to hear the hardware diagnostics passed, as that helps confirm the issue may be related to Windows configuration rather than a hardware fault.

To better assist you, could you kindly share:

  • Are you seeing any other error messages besides "Bad System Config Info"?
  • Does the system continuously restart into the blue screen, or does it remain on the error screen?

In the meantime, kindly try the below steps and confirm :

1: Perform a Hard Reset - Click here for steps

  1. Turn off the notebook.
  2. Disconnect the charger and any external devices (USB drives, printers, docking stations, etc.).
  3. Press and hold the Power button for approximately 15 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the charger only and power on the notebook.

 2: Attempt Startup Menu Access

  1. Turn off the notebook.
  2. Turn it on and immediately tap the Esc key repeatedly.
  3. When the Startup Menu appears, select F2 System Diagnostics and run:
  • Memory Test
  • Storage/SSD Test

Kindly let us know if both tests pass.

 3: Access Windows Recovery Environment

If Windows is still not loading:

  1. Power on the notebook.
  2. When the HP logo appears, hold the power button to turn it off.
  3. Repeat this process 3-4 times.
  4. Check if the system displays "Preparing Automatic Repair" or "Recovery" options.

 4: BIOS Default Settings

  1. Power on the notebook and tap F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS Setup.
  2. Press F9 to load BIOS defaults.
  3. Select Yes.
  4. Press F10 to Save and Exit.
  5. Restart the notebook.

 5: Verify SSD Detection

While in BIOS:

  1. Check whether the SSD/Storage drive is detected.
  2. Kindly share the storage device information shown in BIOS if available.

I hope this helps.
