Arghhh! My parents bought a laptop back in 2017 and basically never used it. It was to updated from the desktop they were using. The Win10 was too much of a leap for them. They only used it to surf and send emails, store pictures. They kept it plugged into the power cord 24/7. I believe this must have killed the battery?? Is that usual? I'm not REAL techno-savy myself, so wanted to see if this is a usual occurrence. They are now in their 80's, father with full blown dementia, mother drinking to overcome her stress and grief. I would like to set up her laptop with some basic buttons to click to deal with her bills she needs to pay. I would also like to set up some type of program that would allow my father to click on one of his kids or grandkids picture and connect him thru facetime or something like that. Do I have to just buy a new battery for their current notebook or is there something better I should invest in?  ANY HELP would be appreciated!!
