Hi!
I have tried to follow your instructions and I did everything except the last part, with the "blue box" picture; I can´t seem to activate this. Please, could you tell me how I can find this "Mode".
Also, I have noticed that when I tell the computer to shut down it doesnt really do that but the fan keeps spinning and making a very low noice. I guess thats why the battery drains even though its "shut down". Maybe a piece of the puzzle!

Hello, @AB22
Thanks for the update! I would like to jump in with a suggestion 🙂
I did go through the entire conversation and this issue does look like an issue with the notebook BIOS. I would suggest the following steps to try and fix this:
Step 1: Perform a BIOS defaults
1) Shutdown the computer.
2) Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears.
3) Press F10 once for BIOS.
4) Press F9 for BIOS defaults.
5) Press F10 to save and exit.
Step 2: BIOS recovery
Go to http://hp.care/2bXONjA and follow the steps under "Recovering the notebook BIOS using a key press combination".
Let me know if that helps!
Good luck 🙂

Hi!
I have just tried the two steps, the first was easy, the second not so easy but it finally worked (however, after the BIOS recovery I did click continue startup, like in the video, but then I came to a WIndows10 screen and the only thing that I could figure from that one was that it said that the computer had a problem and that I could choose from different options, of which to continue restart was the only one I could handle and therefore used).
I dont think that that little detail really mattered but anyways, wanted to tell you.
I will now use my computer as normal and see if there is any difference!
Thank you

Hi, @AB22
Thanks for the update!
Follow these steps to enable your keyboard to wake your computer from sleep mode:
-
In Windows, search for and open the Device Manager.
-
Click the arrow next to Keyboards and double-click the name of your keyboard.
-
If the Power Management tab is available, proceed to the next step.
If the Power Management tab is not available, click the Change Settings button if it appears below the Device status box. The same Keyboard Properties window opens with the Power Management tab available.
If you are prompted for an Administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
-
Click the Power Management tab and make sure that the box next to Allow this device to wake the computer is checked.
-
Click OK, and then test to make sure that the keyboard can now wake the computer.
Let me know if that helps!
Good luck 🙂

Hi! @AB22, I am the MrRobot. It looks like you were interacting with @Dvortex, but he is out of the office today so I'll take over from here.
Kudos to you for trying out the steps.
As you mentioned the issue still persists after trying out the steps.
Please provide the product number of your PC and part number for the battery on your laptop to assist you better.
Download and install HP support assistant on your PC and run the battery check.
Refer this article to know how to use HP support assistant.
Once done, you can run the Battery health check for your notebook from this tool, and this will indicate if there is any hardware issue with the battery. In case the test results fail, you can contact support with the "Error code", so that they can help you in replacing the notebook battery.
I'll watch your reply!
Have a wonderful day ahead! 🙂
