HP ENVY 15 x360 PC
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

My Battery is draining and wont charge.  I plug in the power cord to opperate the computer but the battery will not charge.  The icon is reading "plugged in, not charging" and the LED battery light on the side of the computer is blinking white even when the laptop is turned off.

I have checked the adaptor cord and did battery test which came back "ok".

Will my laptop stop working once I run out of battery even with the adaptor cord?  How can I fix the battery?

Thanks,

Your laptop should run just fine if your battery dies.

To better help you we would need the exact model number or product number of your laptop/desktop???

Your model number is  HP ENVY 15t-u000 x360 CTO

First thing I would do is download and run this. "30 day free trial."

http://www.passmark.com/products/batmon.htm

It will give you more information about your battery.

After your battery is fully charged you can start this part of the program and watch the discharge rate.

This will give you a better indication if you need to replace your battery.

They just announced this today.

HP Notebook Computer Battery Safety Recall and Replacement Program

On June 14, 2016 HP announced a worldwide voluntary safety recall and replacement program in cooperation with various government regulatory agencies, for certain notebook computer batteries.

Go to this link and run OPTION A.

I ran the program on replacement and the battery is fine and doesn't need replacing.  I downloaded BatteryMon and it doesn't give me any more information on why the battery is not taking a charge.  It says its at 20% which is where it has been.  Type of use is normal operation. No reasons why its not charging.

What is the Design Capacity  and  what is the Full Charge Capacity???

Can you take a SNIP of result display and post it???

HP Recommended

Design Capacity and Full Charge Capacity are both 36480mWh (3229 mAh)

Current capacity 8026 mWh (710mAh)

I tried to take a screen shot but I couldn't copy it to the text box.

If the Current Capacity does not increase I would say the battery needs to be replaced.

When you tested your battery was there an option to CALIBRATE the battery???

There wasn't an option to calibrate because is said the battery was fine.  How much does a new battery cost?  Do  have to take off the back of the laptop to replace it?  I can't just unsnap the battery.
