Spectre x360 2015

Hi,

 

Just yesterday, my 2015 HP laptop ran into some issue. I was using it as always when the battery ran out. I plugged it in with its original charging cord but it has been refusing to turn on since.

 

I have a colleague with an HP laptop. I tried my cord on his laptop and it works, his cord with my laptop and still I have the same issue. With the caveat that he has a 15 inch omen laptop which requires a higher voltage adapter.

 

Any help and tips? Online search seems to indicate I should try to remove the battery from my laptop and try without, but it's not exatly easy to do that with a spectre x360.

What is the complete product name or product number?

It is difficult to help you without kowing which specific notebook you have.

 

So far you have identified it as coming from a notebook model range that covers three years and many notebooks.

 

Hint:

 

On the bottom of the notebook there should be be identifying information in tiny print. Find the ProdID and post it here. The ProdID is the product number.

All you need to do is unplug the battery and then try the power adapter to see if it powers on. Be safe when connecting the power adapter with the base enclosure removed.

 

Using a power adapter that is not specifically for your notebook, like that of your colleague's is not recommended.

Okay. Ive done that. Unfortunately it's still not powering on...

This all seems to point out to defective charging cable if it wasnt for the fact that my friends laptop was detecting being plugged in when using it (giving a warning message that my charging cable was delivering lower than needed power and thus turning it "off")

One small other detail. The tiny led next to the power cord's connecting point to the laptop bleeps three times when i try to power it on. Its litteraly the only sign of life i get from the laptop. When i removed the battery, not even that was happening

Unfortunately, bleep is not a word that really works when describing a PC or notebook issue. Blinks and audible sounds, as in beeps denote error messages that are provided by the BIOS.

 

That flicker might be just because the battery is too low to start the notebook.

 

Is the led blinking in a repetetive fashion? That is blinking a number of times and the repeating the same number, as in an error code?

 

What color is the led when it is lit?

 

Are you hearing beeps?

Does the notebook charge while it is turned off and connected to the power adapter?

I meant blink, call it a brain fart mixed my words between beep and blink, ending up with bleeping.

 

It blinks white three times anytime I try to press the power button.

 

I have tried hard resetting multiple times. No effect

 

I am not sure I understand the last question. The notebook ran out of battery, so it is off. And since it won't turn on anymore, I assume it is not charging.

The power adapter is a product you can find at a really good price if you shop smart.  I see it here in Europe for as low as 23 Euros.  That would be worth purchasing to give it a try. 

 

The HP product number for the power adapter is HP G6H42AA. Use it as a search term in a Google search.

If the notebook won't start with the battery connected and the battery won't charge, it should be the first thing in the troubleshooting tree to try.  If that does not work, it means that the power connector cable may have failed. There is a remove replace/video for that on the link I provided earlier. It is a simple replacement.

 

Here is the part number information.  Shop smart and you should be able to find it for about $30.00.

Did you disconnect the battery as I suggested earlier?

 

 

What I meant by charging is to plug in the power adapter to see if the charge LED comes on. YOu might try giving it a gentle wiggle to see if it flickers.  The power connector cables do indeed fail.

Tried with a new charger but it made no difference. Moving on to connector...

 

PS: the charger you linked to is 65W, but looking at specs for my laptop (and on my original charger), I got a 45W. Was your suggestion on purpose?
