HP Notebook - 15-bs109np

I upgraded my PC 15-bs109np. I installed a 500Gb SSD and Windows 11 Pro. Everything worked great. When I found that everything was working fine, I decided to update the BIOS. The one the PC had was version F.24. I automatically updated with the HP tool to a new version: F. 75 Rev A

During the update process it went well but then when I tried to restart it never booted. I hear the fan running but nothing else.

So I tried a pen drive BIOS installation. I also tried the key procedure but I can't get anything.

Another thing. On the HP website, the BIOS history does not show the version I had installed, F. 24.

Could someone from the group help me recover my computer?

It sounds like your HP Notebook 15-bs109np is experiencing a failed BIOS update, which has caused it to be unable to boot properly. Since you’ve already tried a BIOS recovery USB drive and key combinations, follow these advanced troubleshooting steps:

 

Try a Hard Reset

  1. Turn off the laptop completely.
  2. Disconnect all peripherals, including USB drives, external monitors, etc.
  3. Unplug the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
  4. Press and hold the power button for 30–60 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  5. Reconnect the battery and power adapter.
  6. Try to turn it on again.

 

Force BIOS Recovery (Windows + B Method)

Since your laptop is not booting, try forcing the BIOS recovery mode:

  1. Turn off the laptop.
  2. Press and hold Windows + B keys.
  3. While holding the keys, press and hold the power button for about 2-3 seconds, then release the power button (keep holding Windows + B).
  4. If the recovery works, you might hear beeps, and the BIOS update screen should appear.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall the BIOS.

 

Recover BIOS with USB Drive

If the above method does not work, try reinstalling the BIOS from a USB drive:

  1. On another working computer, go to HP’s support website.
  2. Enter your model number (HP Notebook 15-bs109np) and download the BIOS update (F.75 Rev A or an earlier version if available).
  3. Use HP BIOS Recovery tool to create a USB recovery drive:
    • Open the downloaded BIOS update file.
    • Select Create Recovery USB drive and follow the prompts.
  4. Insert the USB drive into your laptop.
  5. Repeat Step 2 (Windows + B Method), but this time, the laptop should load the BIOS recovery from the USB.

Try an External Display

  • If the BIOS update disabled your laptop screen, it might be trying to output to an external monitor.
  • Connect an HDMI or VGA cable to an external display and check if you get any output.

 

CMOS Battery Reset (Advanced)

If none of the above steps work, the issue may be corrupt BIOS settings. Try resetting them:

  1. Turn off the laptop and open the back panel (you may need a screwdriver).
  2. Locate the CMOS battery (a small coin-sized battery).
  3. Carefully remove the CMOS battery for 5–10 minutes.
  4. Reinsert the battery and reassemble the laptop.
  5. Try turning the laptop on again.

Thank you very much for all the information. Unfortunately, after repeating each of the indicated procedures several times, absolutely nothing is achieved. I just hear the fan running and a very faint flash from the screen.

 

I haven't yet tested restoring the BIOS with a pendrive that has LEDs. I would like to know if there is any activity while it is connected. Could I replace that pendrive with an external disk since I have one here at home that has LEDs?

 

I can't understand how this happened. The laptop was in perfect condition. I did the automatic BIOS update with the HP tool. I didn't make any mistakes. I'm used to these procedures because I have six HP notebooks here at home. This has never happened in the past.

Since none of the recovery methods worked, your BIOS might be completely corrupted. Here are a few more things you can try:

Test with an External Drive with LEDs (Instead of a USB)

Yes, you can use an external hard drive with LEDs instead of a USB to check if there's any activity. If the LEDs blink during the BIOS recovery attempt, it means the system is at least trying to read from the drive. If the LEDs don’t blink at all, the BIOS might be bricked, and hardware-level recovery may be required.

 

Blind BIOS Recovery with an Older Version (Rollback)

Sometimes, the latest BIOS version isn’t fully compatible. If you can find an older BIOS version (e.g., F.24) on HP’s website, try flashing that instead of F.75. Use the Win + B method while having the older BIOS version on a USB.

 

Check for Signs of Life

Before concluding that the BIOS chip is dead, check for these signs:

  • Does Caps Lock or Num Lock blink? (Blinking patterns can indicate motherboard issues.)
  • Does the screen flash when pressing keys? (If yes, the BIOS may still be partially working.)
  • Does the fan speed change? (A sudden speed-up could mean the system is trying to recover.)

I took a pen drive with LEDs and tried to recover the Bios with the oldest version I could find on the HP website for my notebook, version F. 32


Before starting the process, I reset the CMOS, then connected the Pen drive and used the win + b key procedure.


When turning on the PC, the pendrive flashes once and after 4 seconds the LED turns on but remains completely fixed, it does not flash.

 

The Caps Lock key remains off. I only hear the fan (constant speed) and the HD. I notice a small change in the screen light when I turn on the PC but it doesn't give any more signal.


Honestly, I still can't understand how all this happened. The automatic update done with the HP tool was supposed to not damage my PC. Very strange.
