Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Dear fellas,

I wonder if HP has any "insider" or "beta test" program to Bios. I would like to subscribe myself into it if possible to have access to the latest bios available.

There are no Beta programs for the public, HP has its own internal team.

Use the below link: to download the latest BIOS and Driver for your HP ENVY TouchSmart m7-j178ca Notebook PC.

Click on this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-envy-touchsmart-m7-j100-notebook-pc-series/54011...

Dear support,

@Raj1788

Somehow, my bios is version 0.71 instead of 0.70, updated by the hp update app always and I can't downgrade from to the current 0.70. Why?

I don't have a clue on how I got this version if the official is 0.70.

Is there any way to downgrade?

Thanks in advance

Erick

Let's try to downgrade the BIOS.

Follow steps 2: Create a USB recovery drive using this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02693833

Keep me posted, how it goes!

Have a great day!

Hi, thanks for the reply.  I already created a recovery. What is the next step now?

HP Recommended

FYI, I was able to find and update to F.72 for my device through this link https://support.hp.com/sg-en/document/c06001626

So, I was in  F.71 and updated successfully to F.72, today, March/17/2019.

Is there any way to rollback to the current official bios for my laptop?

@ErickWill

Let's roll back the BIOS to the previous version use following the below steps.

1) Shutdown the computer.

2) Hold down the Windows and B button together while the computer is still turned off.

3) Turn on the computer and continue to hold the Windows and B button until a BIOS Recovery screen appears.

4) Follow on-screen instructions and click on OK

If this does not work click on this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02693833 and follow step 2 and 3.

And here is the current BIOS version click here: https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-envy-touchsmart-m7-j100-notebook-pc-se...

Hi,

I tried every single step you did mention and it didn't work. I mean, I cannot update Bios directly throught the app and if I create an USB Bios Recovery, when I press Windows Key + B and Power button the Caps Lock key blinks but no Bios Recovery Screen, even if I wait for 10  minutes, the screen keeps dark all the time.

I suspect that after I updated to F.71 the digital signature (checksum) for the Bios was replaced for another Bios Branch, otherwise I succed to install F.72 (same branch) without any problem last week throught the Bios app and also throught the USB recovery process (I was testing if it really works), but no matter what I do I can't rollback to the original branch.

HP would really help if could provide me a method or special Bios app that skips the Bios checksum in order to allow me to install the correct Bios.. is there any way for you to talk to the Engineer Department asking them a solution based in what I'm saying to you?

Thanks in advance

Erick

I would really appreciate if you could forward my issue and feedback me here in this thread. It may help someone else in the future.

Additionally, I can't find in those options the "Still need help".. so, I kindly ask you to forward my issue to the Engineering Department. I'll be waiting your reply and for sure, I gonna be really thankful.

I really appreiciate your help.
