HP 17 Laptop PC 17-c2000 (4V791AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I've tried all the procedures that are listed, no successful boot up. Is service the best option?

Hi @Nupe03

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I acknowledge the situation. The “Boot Device Not Found – Hard Disk Error (3F0)” message indicates that the system is unable to detect a valid operating system on the hard drive.

Let us proceed with recommended steps to restore functionality:

Step 1: Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI)

  1. Turn off the computer completely.
  2. Power it on and immediately press the F2 key repeatedly until the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics screen opens.
  3. Select Component Tests > Hard Drive > Quick Test.
  4. Allow the test to run. If prompted, continue with the Extensive Test for a deeper check.
  5. Note any error codes or failure IDs displayed.

Step 2: Verify BIOS Settings

  1. Restart the computer and press F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS Setup.
  2. In BIOS, confirm that the hard drive is listed under Storage.
  3. Ensure the boot order has the hard drive set as the primary boot device.
  4. Save changes and exit.

Step 3: Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, printers, etc.).
  2. Unplug the power cord.
  3. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the power cord and turn the computer back on.

Step 4: Use HP App – Diagnose & Fix

  1. If the system boots into Windows after diagnostics, open the HP App.
  2. Select Diagnose & Fix to automatically check and repair startup issues.

Step 5: System Recovery

  • If diagnostics confirm the hard drive is healthy but the operating system is missing or corrupted, use the HP Recovery Partition or HP Cloud Recovery Tool to reinstall the operating system.
  • Instructions for creating recovery media are available in HP’s official documentation.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
