All apps will be uninstalled including store apps and win 32 apps. Except apps which are preinstalled with your system. I think it is worth to reinstall them. You can recover some data from c:/windows.Old folder.

Hi. I just went to do the refresh and got this message...
The drive where Windows is installed is locked. Unlock the drive and try again.

I don't know how to unlock the drive. I hadn't previously locked it.

Any ideas??

Go to advanced option and select command prompt
And enter these commands one by one
Bootrec /fixMBR
bootrec /fixBoot
bootrec /rebuildBCD

Done. Each operation completed successfully

Ok, this may be a partition issue you need to assign the position again manually.
1: Open command prompt (as I told you in last reply)
2: Now enter these commands one by one

Diskpart
sel disk 0
List vol
sel vol 2
assign letter p: (this may take while wait until confirmation and di not power off during this process)

Exit
cd /d p:\EFI\Microsoft\Boot
bootrec /fixboot
bcdboot c:\Windows /l en-us /s p: /f ALL
exit

Now try to reset your pc

Hi. I did everything up to exit. I typed in "assign letter p:" It instantly said diskpart successfully assigned the drive letter.

I typed exit. Then typed in next command.

I got message "The system cannot find the path specified"

I typed in the command exactly as above with spaces. I tried the process a couple of times with no luck.

I didn't know what you meant by "sdf" in the second part of your message.

I managed to figure out how to see the attributes of my drives. My Recovery drive which used to he "D" has now changed to "P".

My Windows drive is "C" if that is useful information

Oh, sdf is not a message it was sent by mistake sorry about that.
I can see your problem is more complex than I taught but one more way is still available 🙂

You may remember that I told you a way to recover your system without system recovery partition.
Just follow that method up to install screen and select install now button instead of repair your computer.
Make sure you download correct version and edition of windows otherwise HP support assistant won't work.
Now select c drive and install windows 10 on it. (you may lose all apps but you can recover data from c: \Windows.old)
Now follow on screen instructions (this may take up to 30 minutes).
Once pc start open c:\windows.old folder and recover your personal data
Now download and install HP support assistant and refresh your pc through it (this is mandatory to activate recovery drive again)
Once it complete you will get factory image:)

I hope this will work:)
