Hello,
I purchased my HP Spectre x360 - 13t back in March 2018. For several months now I have been getting an error message about the system fan when booting up. The message comes and goes and I usually by pass it by pressing enter or letting the system shut down and trying again. Sometimes, eventually the laptop will boot past this screen on it's own. And other times, I won't get the message at all.
About a month ago I was fed up and started researching how to resolve it. I came across a few discussion boards that suggested updating any out of date Bios and drivers, so I did. Right after these updates, it booted just fine. But the very next day, I got the error again. I have also ran an extensive system test on HP PC Hardware Diagnostics and there are no hardware errors that appear. And I do not experience any performance issues when using the laptop (no freezing or random shutdowns).
I'm at my wits end because I'm scared that this (over $1,000) laptop will just kick it, unfortunately I am out of warranty and would like to avoid any extra cost if it is something I can resolve on my own.
The full error message:
The system has detected that a cooling fan is not operating correctly.
Continued operations is not recommended and may cause unpredictable behavior that could result in random shutdown, data loss or possible system damage. The system will shutdown in 15 seconds. To prevent shutdown and continue operation, press the Enter key now.
System Fan (90B)
