Pavilion G7-1139wm
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Pressing the power key results in power LED on, Black Screen, and num lock and caps lock keys flash continuously.

Placed a boot disk in the DVD drive.  It does not boot to the DVD drive.

Recovering the BIOS

Trying to recover the BIOS, Windows Key + B, press and hold power button 2-3 seconds produces same.

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00042629

Power Button and repeatedly tapping the escape key does nothing.

Power Button and pressing F10 does nothing.

The page for Pavilion G7-1139wm shows no software or drivers are available.

BIOS download is no longer available under HP Software & Drivers.

I am looking for the BIOS file so that I can put it on a flash drive, and try to recover the BIOS from the flash drive.

If that does not work, I will need further instructions.

Unfortunately,I agree that it sounds like a bad motherboard.

@2can

Have you tried a power reset?

Is there a pattern to the blinks to indicate the error?

I get a full list of drivers/software including BIOS. When you arrive at the page use the selector to choose Windows 7 if it isn't showing any drivers.

I have tried a power reset.

No there is no pattern to the blinks.  They are just continuous.

And I had a gray haired old lady moment, I did not click the change button.  Once I clicked the change button, I could see the drivers.  However, making the USB BIOS Recovery will not work because it is not trying to boot to anything.  It will not boot to a DVD, nor will it boot to a bootable USB device.

There is no beep code for continuous blinking, so I am thinking it may be a bad motherboard.  If you concur with this notion, please let me know.

I will be ordering a new motherboard today.  Thank you for your time.  I just wanted to confirm suspicions before spending.
