A BIOS update is a critical system operation, and while it is intended to improve system stability, security, and compatibility, there is always a small risk of failure. Here’s what you need to consider regarding the HP Consumer Notebook PC BIOS Update (8A3C/8A3D/8A3E/8A3F) for your Victus by HP 15.6-inch Gaming Laptop:

Potential Risks of BIOS Update Failure

  1. Power Loss During Update – If the laptop loses power during the update, it can corrupt the BIOS, potentially leading to a no-power or no-boot situation.
  2. Incorrect Update File – Installing an incorrect BIOS version not meant for your system could cause incompatibility issues.
  3. Interruption or Failed Flashing – If the BIOS flashing process is interrupted or not completed properly, the system might not boot.
  4. Hardware Incompatibility – Although rare, certain BIOS updates may introduce compatibility issues with existing hardware components, leading to boot failure.

Symptoms of a Failed BIOS Update

  • No power or no display when pressing the power button.
  • Black screen with no HP logo appearing.
  • Laptop turns on and off repeatedly (boot loop).
  • Unresponsive keyboard or power button.

What to Do If the Laptop Won’t Power On After BIOS Update

1. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Disconnect the AC adapter and remove any external peripherals.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds.
  • Plug in the charger and try turning it on.

2. Try a BIOS Recovery

If the update failed but the laptop still has some power:

  • Press Windows + B (or Windows + V) while holding the power button for 3-5 seconds.
  • Release the buttons and wait to see if the BIOS recovery process starts.

3. Reset the CMOS Battery (Advanced)

  • If comfortable, open the back panel and remove the CMOS battery for a few minutes.
  • Reinsert it and try turning on the system.

We hope our assistance has been helpful!

Take care and have an amazing day!
