I cannot access the recovery options. I cannot log into my laptop. It says it's the wrong password but I know it's the right one. My bios is locked. I can't do anything

@77788, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding login issue with your laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I can imagine how frustrating it must feel when your laptop won’t even let you past the login screen, especially if you know the password is right. Let’s see if we can bring it back to life.

A couple of quick questions first:

Did this issue start after a recent update or change to the system?

Are you signing in with a Microsoft account or a local account?

When you say the BIOS is locked, do you mean it’s asking for an admin password before letting you in?

Here are a few things you can try:

Check keyboard layout – On the login screen, make sure the correct language/keyboard is selected (sometimes it switches, making the password look wrong).

Use the on-screen keyboard – Tap the ease-of-access icon and try typing the password with that.

Try safe mode – Hold the power button down, then turn on the laptop and press F11 repeatedly. Even if recovery feels blocked, this is usually the way into Windows Recovery. From there, you can attempt "Advanced Options > Troubleshoot > Reset this PC."

If BIOS is locked – That’s a separate password and would prevent recovery or reinstall.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
