My laptop was updating and then it turned off. Now I can't turn it on, the charging light is off. It doesn't respond to the power button at all. Before the update, everything seemed to be working fine. (Omen 15-dc1065nw Windows 11)

Hi @Tymofiy,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for the detailed info. Since your HP Omen 15-dc1065nw shut down during an update and now shows no power or charging light, this could indicate a firmware-level failureBIOS corruption, or power delivery issue. Here's a structured approach to troubleshoot:

1. Perform a Hard Reset

This clears residual power and resets hardware:

  • Unplug the charger.
  • If the battery is removable (most Omen models are not), remove it.
  • Press and hold the power button for 30–60 seconds.
  • Plug in the charger (without battery if removable) and try powering on.

2. Check Charger and Port

  • Ensure the charger LED is on when plugged into the wall.
  • Try a different wall outlet.
  • Inspect the charging port for damage or looseness.
  • If available, test with a compatible HP charger.

3. BIOS Recovery (Blind BIOS Recovery)

If the update corrupted the BIOS, try this:

  1. Turn off the laptop.
  2. Press and hold Windows + B, then press and hold the Power button for 2–3 seconds.
  3. Release the Power button but keep holding Windows + B for another 10 seconds.
  4. If successful, the BIOS recovery screen should appear.

⚠️ If nothing happens, the BIOS may be too corrupted, or the motherboard may not be receiving power.

4. Check for Signs of Life

  • Any fan spinkeyboard backlight, or USB port power?
  • If completely dead, it could be a motherboard or power circuit failure.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hard reset didn't help, charger works and outputs 19.5 volts. LED isn't on. Most likely a problem with the motherboard. It was a very good laptop, it's a pity that it broke. This is how updates kill laptops.

I figured out what the problem is. When I turn on the power, I hear soft clicks. It's probably a short circuit, and as far as I know, I can't fix it myself.
